Days 1 and 2 : Warsaw
For Long, Warsaw has been considered as a similar city as Paris but in Central Europe. After the war, Warsaw has been globally destroyed. Today, the city is restoring its nobility. The Polish capital city is showing incredible dynamism both economically and in daily life. From 2015 to 2017, I lived in Warsaw and discovered the wealth of this city that was long unknown to me. At the speed things are going, it would be inappropriate to say that the Warsaw I knew almost 10 years ago is the same as today… but my annual escapades do not take away the pleasure of rediscovering this attractive city each time.
In two days, you will not have time to see everything but I am sure that you will enjoy discovering the old town, the atmosphere of the Vistula quays, the Śródmieście or Powiśle districts.
Our suggestion
Day 1: Arrival in Warsaw in the early afternoon. Visit to Lazienki Park. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: Visit to a museum in the city. Choice between the Uprising Museum or the Polish History Museum or the Jewish History Museum or the National Museum. Walk in the old town then discover the banks of the Vistula. Night at the hotel.
Day 3: After breakfast, transfer by train to the city of Torun. Duration 2h20!
Days 3 and 4: Toruń
The city of Toruń is on the banks of the Vistula and is one of those cities in Poland that experienced their golden age when the Polish river was the main means of transporting goods. Today a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Toruń is wonderfully preserved. Its history, combined with that of Nicolas Copernicus, born in the city, will allow you to discover a part of the history of Central Europe.
The city is also home to many restaurants and cafes that will allow you to discover Polish gastronomy.
Don’t miss out on discovering and tasting the typical biscuits of the region; a kind of small gingerbread cakes. Delicious, they have made the city famous throughout the country.
Our suggestion:
Day 3: The afternoon of your arrival, walk through the city to soak up this unique atmosphere.
Day 4: After breakfast, Visit to one or two museums in the city to learn more about the history of this city. Lunch
Train transfer to Gdansk at 15:00 / 16:00 . Duration: 2h30
Days 4, 5 and 6: Gdańsk
Gdańsk or Danzig (in German) is one of the most beautiful cities on the Baltic Sea. Perhaps less known than Stockholm, Helsinki or Copenhagen, I don’t think I’m wrong in betting that this discovery will delight you. Gdańsk, in addition to being a magnificent city whose architecture and history have been highlighted by UNESCO, is a city known for its political history. It was in Gdańsk that in the 1980s Lech Wałesa’s Solidarity movement was created; the same movement that led to the fall of the Soviet Union in 1989.
Gdańsk is therefore known for being one of the largest naval ports in Poland but it is also accompanied by its two sisters: Sopot and Gdynia. It will also be an opportunity for you to discover the joys of the Baltic Sea, its beaches, its walks along the water.
Our suggestion:
Day 4: Arrival in the evening at the hotel. Walk in the city. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 5: After breakfast, visit to the Solidarnosc museum. Visit of the old town square, the canals, and why not the city hall museum. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 6: After breakfast, head to Gdynia by tram. Visit the port and walk along the seafront to Sopot. Lunch at the Piaskownica restaurant on the beach. Visit the center of Sopot, the pontoon and its atmosphere of old German houses.
Return to Gdańsk by reginal city train and overnight at the hotel.
Day 7: After breakfast transfer by train to Olsztyn at 12:00. Duration: 2h15
Days 7 to 13 : Agritourism Experience at Siedlisko Letnia Kuchnia
In the second week of your stay, you will join the Letnia Kuchnia guesthouse which is located 15km from the city of Olsztyn. In half-board formula, you will put your feet under the table and rest. Surrounded by forest, Letnia Kuchnia is the ideal place to disconnect and take a break out of time. Its friendly format will certainly allow you to meet other visitors (maximum 12 people on site during the week), Polish people who will also give you the opportunity to discover Poland through its inhabitants.
During the week, the guesthouse leaves bicycles at your disposal to go to the nearby Wadag Lake. You can also walk in the countryside, the forest. Finally, these few quiet days will allow you the rest you have deserved.
Our suggestion:
From day 7 to day 13: overnight stays, breakfasts and dinners at Siedlisko Letnia Kuchnia. Possibility to stay on site and walk around the nearby region. It is also possible to rent a car in Olsztyn to visit the region more freely in all its widths.
Day 14 : Back to Warsaw
After a 2h10 train ride (departure 12h, arrival 14h) from the city of Olsztyn, you will be back in the city of Warsaw for your last visits, last shopping and your last evening.
Overnight at your hotel before returning home!
